Hiromori
Shigetaka was born on May, 3rd 1945 in the city of Kameyama,
Mie Prefecture, Japan. He moved to Suzuka city in 1960 where
he attended the Tatetsu Manufacturing High School. He graduated
in 1963 and began working at the Honda Technical Research Institute.
He worked there for six years and then left to pursue other
interests.
Mr. Hiromori opened his first traditional figurine and home
décor business in 1978. Several years later he began
studying the art of creating traditional Japanese figurines.
In 1992 he celebrated the grand opening of the largest traditional
Japanese figurine and home décor location in Mie prefecture.
He joined the Japanese association for traditional figurine
stores that same year and was made the Director in 1993.
In
the world of Japanese traditional figurines and decorative items,
Mr. Hiromori, or Professor Hiro, as he is called by those who
know him, continues to be an authority not only on the manufacturing
and design process, but also in guiding and coaching others
who have the desire to learn the art.
